World Forestry Center The World Forestry Center is another wonderful attraction located within Washington Park. Visitors can spend an afternoon learning about forestry, wood products, logging operations, and the history of logging in the Pacific Northwest.

The forests of the Pacific Northwest captivated early explorers and continue to play an unprecedented role in the economic development of the region. Building the World Forestry Center in Portland was a natural match.

Around the bend, the new Children's Museum is set to open in Washington Park in 2001. This is actually the former site of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, which was relocated to a larger building along the Willamette River several years ago. The Children's Museum should be a wonderful attraction for children and their parents with extensive hands-on exhibits which bring out the curiosity and imagination of the young and the young at heart.
The Oregon Zoo Up the hill is the centerpiece of Washington Park, the Oregon Zoo, a world class facility with ever expanding exhibits which concentrate on showing animals in their natural habitats (not cooped up in cages).

The zoo also offers special events such as concerts, a Halloween Haunt train ride, and a spectacular light show around Christmas time.

Interaction with some of the zoo inhabitants can be quite amazing, even if they won't pose for your camera. Zoo Wildlife
